  Great location across from the beach and within walking distance to good restaurants...Black Pelican is our favorite! Nice complex with private pool and a lot of the balconies have a view of the ocean.

• Review of "Joe Lamb Jr. & Associates" at Kitty Hawk

  We have stayed with Joe Lamb a few times without any problems but this last September we had an experience that will cause us to use other realty companies from here on out. When we arrived at our condo the kids were excited about the projector screen! So we were turning it on and moments later it fell from the ceiling and broke. We called maintenance as soon as it happened. While waiting, we noticed that the projector was installed on the ceiling with quarter inch screws so it was a matter of time before it fell. The maintenance man arrived and agreed that it wasn’t installed right but tried to get us to say we were messing with it to cause it to fall so that the inurence company would cover it. He also left all the live wires hanging from the ceiling, we had to tape them up out of the way ourselves. After talking with the maintenance man we found out it was just a buddy of the homeowner and that the homeowner was the one to install the projector the week prior to us being there. We had a phone call from joe lamb asking for more detail of what happened so we told them. After that we did not hear anything about it. I called a month or so after our vacation to check on our security deposit and was told it could take up to 60 days to receive it back in the mail. She told me to be on the lookout in a few weeks. After waiting another month I called back and was told that our deposit was being held and that we may be responsible the rest of the bill for the new projector and installation. The lady I spoke with asked for a written explanation of what happened that day to have during the dispute, so I sent her one and again didn’t hear another word about it. We are now in January so I emailed checking on where this whole dispute was at and after a few emails and a couple weeks we were emailed a copy of the bill and a statement saying they were keeping our security deposit and that the homeowner agreed to pay the remaining bill! Odds are we wouldn’t have heard a thing about this whole situation if we wouldn’t have put forth the effort to email and call numerous times. This is very unfair to us. We are very honest people and if this had happened due to our negligence then we would 100% take responsibility and not have a problem paying for it. But that is not at all the case. We were very patient with them and told them exactly what happened, with pictures, from day one. This is not our fault and we are being treated like it is.

• Review of "Seaside Vacations" at Kitty Hawk

  We stayed in a house in Collington and I could not have been more underwhelmed. We normally stay in Hatteras but decided to give a new area a try and a new company. They supply nothing not even a dish rag to wash dishes or a trash bag for the trash can. We had to go out and buy everything. Then a real estate agent showed up during our stay to show a prospective buyer the house because apparently the house is also up for sale. She toured the house with him while we were their and walked through every room. I called Seaside to voice my concern and was told a manager would call me back but no one ever did. My opinion is there are many other rental companies that seem to care about their renters and so I will never use Seaside again.

  This is one of the best places to stay on the outer banks. The townhouse community offers a clubhouse, weight-room, racquetball, an assortment of table games, tennis, pickleball, horseshoes, a pool and hot tub. The facility is clean and well taken care of. This is a beach side community, centrally located in an area offering a variety of attractions and restaurants.
